On 25 May 2007, the Latin American and Caribbean Committee for the Defence of Women’s Rights (CLADEM) and the Institute for Gender, Law and Development (INSGENAR) submitted a petition to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.
In it, the State of Argentina was cited on behalf of LNP, a 15-year-old Qom girl from the province of Chaco who had suffered sexual violence that went unpunished.
The central issue concerned the denial of justice: the girl had not been provided with adequate legal defence, nor with an interpreter to testify at the trial. Furthermore, it was stated that no due diligence had been applied in investigating the case, and that the procedures used had led to the re-victimisation of the girl.
Ultimately, the court’s ruling was laden with discriminatory stereotypes and concluded by acquitting the three men accused.

yoEva | Stories of Women Without is an independent project — born without funding or commission — conceived to unfold over several years in order to trace the evolution of femicide across Latin America, as well as the social changes, the possible growth in public awareness, and the development of specific legal or policy frameworks.
yoEva | Stories of Women Without gathers and recounts the testimonies of women affected by acts of femicide, seeking to become a tool for awareness and dissemination — a small drop in the river of change against violence towards women.

“…I am the daughter of a military man, and he would never have accepted that I could divorce.
But I was afraid — for myself, and for my children.
The man I had married was no longer the same.”
…
“It was my birthday — I was turning thirty-six — and he killed them. My son was four years old. My daughter was two.
I died with them.”

“…Mine was the same condition as the women in my family before me. There was nothing unusual about it.”

Twenty-five years ago, her daughter was abducted by a prostitution trafficking network and later killed. Since then, Margarita has devoted her life to rescuing and restoring dignity to the girls who have fallen victim to trafficking.
